Or should I say: "time to become a real Troll"? Yepp, the deadline for my thesis, which I'm currently doing at Qt Software (formally known as Trolltech) is rapidly approaching. So I will now apply for "full membership". That is, for a job at Qt Software Berlin. And so can you! Nokia's Qt Software division is looking for even more developers in Berlin, Germany. LinuxTag 2007 wrap up

So I am finally back home. Time to summarize the last few days sebas style:

Berlin is definately a nice place for LinuxTag, but we need sleeping opportunities that don't require us to travel through the entire city to get to the fairgrounds.

Friedrichshain has really nice flat shares to stay.

My future collegues from the TT Berlin Offices are really cool guys (ok, who would have expected anything else? )

Sven from Amarok, Dimitri from Trolltech and Sebas gave nice interviews during a live show on Deutschlandfunk.

Long train travels + Boredom + Power plug = Amazing productivity

Vom Regen in die Traufe

Trotz mehrfacher Warnung durch Dave und Leh habe ich es getan: Ich habe einen Mietvertrag für eine Wohnung in St. Augustin Menden unweit des Bahnhofs unterschrieben. Das Angebot ist wirklich gut und es lockt eine wunderschöne Dachwohnung mit Einbauküche, die ich ab März mit meiner ~~Komulli...~~, ~~Kommilli..~~ Mitstudentin Nadja beziehen werde. Dadurch nehme ich natürlich in Kauf, bald in glasfasrigem Gebiet zu leben und somit kein DSL zu haben.

Gestern war ich auf einer Infoveranstaltung, auf denen engagierte ~~SPD-Abgeordnete~~ Mitbürger eine Funk-Anbindungen durch eine externe Firma vorgestellt haben. Doch wenn man sich die Preisliste anschaut, dann ist das wenig attraktiv, auch wenn eine feste IP winkt. Aber scheinbar haben viele Leute in der Gegend die Schnautze voll von langsamen und überteuerten ISDN-Dialups ihrer Kiddies, dass sie gerne 80 Euro im Monat für 1024/128kb/s zahlen. Plus 200 Euro Setup-Gebühr. So hoch ist mein Leidensdruck aber dann doch noch nicht.

Eine Information beim T-Com Business-Vertrieb ("Molkentin IT Consulting, Guten Tag") heute ergab, dass der Ausbau per Outdoor-DSLAM wohl noch dieses Jahr geplant ist.

Und doch kann man der ganzen Sache etwas Positives abringen: Wenn die T-Com irgendwann mal mit VDSL vom Pilot- in den Regelbetrieb geht, können Outdoor-DSLAM-Kunden als erste in den Genuss von 25 MBit/s kommen.

Als vorübergehnden Alternativen sehe ich bislang UMTS bei Vodafon, eine WLAN-Richtfunkstrecke mit einem Breitband-Angebundenen in Sichtverbindung oder einfach mal ein paar Monate privatem Offline-Seins. Ob das am Ende beim Studium sogar hilft?
